The Future Tense in GermanModal Auxillary Verbs
(I know that if you look at VERBIX you''ll see the future tense represented there. That is NOT the future tense I will teach you. ) - Future tense gives your sentence more detail. It tells us that something should, will, can, must happen. Rules: 1. To write in the future tense you can only use one of these verbs können - can müssen - must sollen - should wollen - will or would like mögen - like möchten - want These verbs conjugate in a very strange way. Ich kann du kannst er, sie, es kann ich muss du musst muss Ich soll du sollst soll Ich will du willst will Ich mag du magst mag Ich möchte du möchtest möchte rest of pronouns have normal endings. 2. To write in the future tense you'll have to move your "normal verb" to the end of the sentence and leave it in infintive form. That means it will not be conjugated and will end in an -en __________________________________________________________________________ Examples. Normal sentences: P V a N Ich gehe zur Schuile. / I go to school ? Which modal aux verb should you use to make this sentence more complicated. That is your call, depends on what you are trying to convey as a writer. p MA A N V-en Ich soll zur Schule gehen. (sollen is my modal aux verb) / I should go to school. or even more compicated. P MA TE A N A A N V-en Ich soll morgen zur Schule mit meine Freunde gehen. |
